What airport should I fly into?
We recommend flying into Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) — it’s the closest major airport to our wedding venue.
How do I get to Castrocaro Terme from Bologna?
Our wedding will be at Castello del Capitano delle Artiglierie, located in the town of Castrocaro Terme. Travel time from Bologna is about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your mode of transportation.
Rent a Car (Easiest & Most Flexible)
· Driving time: ~1 hour 15 minutes
· Perks: Most convenient way to get around the region, explore nearby towns, and come/go on your own schedule.
Public Transportation (Train + Taxi/Bus)
· Total time: ~1.5–2 hours
· Take the Marconi Express from the airport to Bologna Centrale (~10 minutes).
· Train from Bologna Centrale to Forlì (~35 minutes).
· Taxi or local bus from Forlì to Castrocaro Terme (~20 minutes).
· This is a smooth option if you prefer not to drive.
Should I rent a car?
It’s not required, but highly recommended! Castrocaro and the surrounding Emilia-Romagna countryside are easiest to enjoy with a car. You’ll have the flexibility to explore vineyards, hill towns, and nearby cities like Ravenna, Bologna, Ferrara, and Florence.
Will transportation be provided to and from wedding events?
Transportation will be provided between Grand Hotel Castrocaro and the wedding venue for both the welcome party and the wedding day. Shuttles will also bring guests back to the hotel at the end of each event.
Getting around Castrocaro
If you plan to arrive or leave outside of the scheduled shuttle times, local taxi services are available and can be arranged in advance. Of note, transportation options can be limited depending on the time of day. If you're driving, the town provides free street and hotel parking. The church is just steps from the castle, so you won't need transportation from the church to the venue.
